Amarasooriya College, Meepawala held its Prefects' Investiture Ceremony 2026 on 9th April. Chief Guest Mrs U. J. Disna Udaya Kumari, LLB Attorney at Law. Guest of honour : Mr. Premasiri Wickramasingha Madanayaka. Former Executive officer of Gintota Plywood Pvt Ltd. The ceremony celebrated the appointment of new prefects, who pledged to serve with discipline and leadership.

The inter house Sportsmeet of Meepawala Amarasuriya College was held successfully on 6th March 2026 at College grounds.Mrs T.S.C.Kalasuriya, a renowed Past pupil, The Deputy Directress of Southern Provincial Educationwas the Chief Guest and Mr.B.H.Thusitha Priyantha an eminent Past Pupil, The National Sales Executive Manager of C.W.Mackie(PVT)Ltd. was the guest of honour.The four houses were Vijaya, Gemunu,Mahasen, and Parakum who played well in the battle field but the overall Championship was won by Vijaya house.

A proud moment for Meepawala Amarasooriya College.... On 31st January, the Past pupils Association gifted a brand new School bus to their alma mater - a milestone that strengthens the bond between the Past Pupils and the school.. The entire school community came together in a joyful ceremonial welcome.

On 29th January, we warmly welcomed the grade 1 students into the school community at the inauguration ceremony which is graced by Mr Lakmina Karunanayaka, the Deputy Director of English, Southern Province as the Chief Guest. It began with the Pirith Chanting by Maha Sanga, blessing our little ones as they step into this exciting new chapter of learning.

On December 22nd, the Consulate General of India - Hambantota, generously donated 100 chairs to our school library as a gift from the people of India. The Indian consul General Mr. Harvindar Singh, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and joined us in celebrating this meaningful event. Alongside the celebrations, the traditional Indian sport of Kho-Kho was introduced to our students by the resource persons of the consulate office, adding joy and cultural enrichment to the day's programme.

K.D.Uththama Koushika of Meepawala Amarasuriya College won the first place for the competition under short story category in the all- island Sinhala day competition for grade 12/13.. The salute goes to the teachers of the Sinhala section of the school, who encourage her to achieve the goal.

Meepawala Amarasuriya College's academic and non- academic staff, the SDS and the Old Pupils Association joined parents of students from grade 1-3 to organize the school's 143rd anniversary. An alms-giving was held on the 12th of March in celebration and 20 theros were invited along with all the students in school for the celebratory occasion

Best Of the Best Talent – 2025 Best Of the Best Talent – 2025 organized by the past pupils’ association of G/Meepawala Amarasuriya College was staged on 8th March 2025. Both primary and secondary students performed nearly fifteen items for this show. It was organized for the first time of the school. The principal thanks all those who sacrificed a lot to make this event a success. The salute should go to the teachers of aesthetic section who prepared the students for this talent show.

Prefects’ Leadership Camp – 2025 Meepawala Amarasuriya College has organized a two-day leadership camp for all the prefects of the college on 28th of February and 1st of March. This massive event was organized to develop the leadership skills of the prefects. The inauguration ceremony was held at the college auditorium under the guidance of the Principal Mr.J.K.J.N.Kularathana and all the deputy principals, assistant principals and the teachers in charge of the prefect board. Lectures, group activities, aesthetic hours, walk to the environment, camp fire, food without fire, let’s be a sensitive person were the most outstanding event of the programmed

Annual Prize Giving held on the 7th of February 2024 at the school Dr. Richard Pathirana Memorial Hall at 1.00pm onwards. The Chief guest of the occasion was Dr.Janaka Vithanachchi 9Director of National Transport Medical Institute & The special guest of the occasion was Mr.Shantha Halloluwa (The Director of Technonogy & International Relationships- The Institute of Chartered Accounts of Sri Lanka.
